PTA Annual Meeting & Parents’ Gathering

家教会周年大会暨家长聚会 

On the evening of 20th October, the Secondary Department of ASJ  (Dongguan) held its first "Parents-and-Teachers Association (PTA) Annual Meeting cum Parents' Gathering". This key event in the PTA calendar served not only as a channel for communication between parents and the school but also as a platform for both parties to explore how to help students develop holistically.

10月20日晚，东莞ASJ中学部迎来了首次“家教会周年大会暨家长聚会”。作为每年家教会的重要活动之一，此次大会不仅是家长与学校沟通的桥梁，更是共同探讨如何促进孩子全面发展的平台。

The meeting commenced with an inspirational talk by Dr. Anne Chan, the KLA Consultant (English) for our Secondary Department and a retired Principal of CCC Ming Yin College in Hong Kong. Her topic was "How to Recognise and Deal with Children's Emotional Problems". Through vivid examples and profound insights, she showed parents how to guide and support their children in developing a positive personality and coping strategies when facing challenges and negative emotions.

会议伊始，本校中学部英文科学术顾问、香港中华基督教会铭贤书院退休校长陈绮雯博士以“认识和处理孩子的情绪问题”为主题，开展了精彩的讲座。她通过生动的例子和深刻的见解，向家长们展示了在孩子遇到挑战和产生负面情绪时，如何通过正确的引导和支持，帮助孩子培养积极的性格和应对策略。家长们听得聚精会神，不时点头表示认同。

Following the parents' talk, our Executive Principal, Mr. Samuel Kam, detailed the school's three-year plan to parents, providing a clear understanding of the school's development. He emphasised the importance of home-school collaborations, noting that parental support and involvement are the key elements to the school's success and an indispensable part of children's growth.

家长讲座结束后，执行校长金礼贤先生向在座的家长详细报告了本年度的学校发展目标和计划，让家长们对学校的发展方向有了清晰的认识。同时他还强调了家校合作的重要性，他提到，家长的支持和参与是学校成功的关键，也是孩子们成长道路上不可或缺的力量。

Our Secondary Principal, Ms. Diana Zhang, detailed the department's future teaching plans, focusing on teaching quality, academic tutoring, and classroom teaching improvement. She looks forward to working with parents to cultivate students into inclusive, excellent and impactful leaders.

中学部校长张悦女士则详细介绍了中学部接下来在教学质量、课业辅导、课程创新等方面的规划，她表示将与家长携手把学生培养成拥有独特爱好、成绩优异、具有影响力的人。

After the meeting, parents engaged in in-depth discussions with their children's homeroom teachers. In a relaxing and friendly atmosphere, parents gained a thorough understanding of the class's teaching situation, their children's academic performance, and their daily life on campus. The homeroom teachers patiently answered parents' questions and offered suggestions on supporting their children's growth better. Parents expressed their gratitude for the teachers' great effort and engaged in a lively discussion on how to strengthen home-school collaborations.

随后，家长们与他们孩子的班主任进行了深入的座谈。在轻松友好的氛围中，家长们详细了解了班级的教学情况、孩子的学习表现以及他们在校园生活中的点点滴滴。班主任们耐心地回答了家长们的疑问，并就如何更好地支持孩子的成长提出了建议。家长们对老师们的辛勤工作表示了感谢，并就如何加强家校合作、共同促进孩子发展展开了热烈的讨论。

This transparent and two-way communication will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the healthy growth of children. We look forward to creating a better learning environment for children through consistent effort and collaboration.
