Grade 1
This week in literacy, students deepened their understanding of short and long vowel sounds by learning to distinguish and describe the unique characteristics of each. They practised reading and pronouncing words containing short and long vowels and explained the reasons behind each sound classification.

Grade 2
In Literacy, Grade 2 learned about prefixes, base words, and suffixes. The students explored how adding a prefix or suffix can change the meaning of a word. They then created their own designs to help them remember and identify the different parts of a word, reinforcing their understanding of how prefixes and suffixes work.

In Grade 3, the students initiated their week with an engaging leaflet scavenger hunt aimed at stimulating their curiosity. Subsequently, they investigated the concept of persuasion and the critical language techniques associated with it. As they advance through the unit, the students will undertake the creation of informative leaflets concerning notable landmarks they have visited, thereby applying their newfound knowledge in a meaningful and creative manner.

Grade 6A
This week’s literacy focus introduced the Grade 6 students to the genre of biographies. They began exploring how biographies can communicate the life stories of individuals, offering insights into their experiences and allowing the public to learn valuable lessons from their journeys.

Art
Students across all grade levels connected visual arts with literature by creating artworks that illustrate key scenes, emotions, themes, and settings from books they have read. Enhancing their drawing skills and deepening their comprehension and storytelling skills through art.

In ICT classes spanning from Grades 1 through 6, literacy in action this week encompasses the utilisation of communication, critical thinking, and creativity to convey ideas through diverse media types, including digital painting, photography, animation, audio production, video production, and web-page creation. These activities cultivate visual, oral, and digital literacy, empowering students to effectively communicate their ideas within our digital environment.

Mandarin FL
Grade 1 students learned how to read and write Pinyin complex vowels correctly. In addition, they reviewed three units to prepare for the test. In Grade 2, Grade 4, and Grade 5, the week was highlighted by a unit test in Language Arts, which integrated literacy skills with comprehension and analysis. Students applied their reading and interpretation abilities to answer questions, demonstrating their understanding of texts. The test served as a platform to assess and strengthen their literacy competencies. Moving forward, we will focus on areas for improvement and continue to integrate literacy across the curriculum to enhance students' analytical and expressive skills.
Grade 3 students learned how to write a diary. They can already record the important events of the day in the correct format.
Grade 6 students wrote about the things that bring happiness to their lives. They imitated the writing method of the text and used beautiful words to record the good things that happened in their lives.

Mandarin AL
Grade 5 and 6 students presented the customs of Chinese New Year and their impact on people's lives through role-playing. They also applied the new vocabulary and sentence patterns they had learned in this course. Grade 3 and 4 students learned a lot of terminology related to “Daily routine,” and utilised their knowledge through discussions about daily routine in different countries.
五年级及六年级学生以角色扮演的形式,展示出中国新年的习俗以及对于人们生活的影响。学生还运用上他们在本科所学习到生字词和句型。三年级和四年级学生了解到很多关于“日常起居”的用语,并通过互相讨论不同国家日常起居的形式将所学知识运用了起来。
Library
What a “spooktacular” week in the library! The Upper Primary Library Club students created their own spooky stories using a roll-a-horror story prompt. The Grade 2 and 3 students deciphered a scary code, exercising their comprehension and problem-solving skills. The Grade 1 students enjoyed travelling with the friendly witch in the story ‘Room on the Broom’.

Chinese Maths
Grade 1 students embarked on a literacy-infused journey through the number 10. We utilised storytelling and interactive activities to recognise and understand the value of ten. Students engaged in counting exercises and practised addition and subtraction within 10 through games, fostering a strong foundation in numeracy. This approach enhanced their mathematical skills and reinforced their literacy through storytelling and problem-solving. This week, the third-grade students took a test on the third unit "Measurement". During the test, the students answered and reviewed the questions independently. Improve reading comprehension and consolidate knowledge learned in this unit. The fourth grade has concluded the unit study of "Understanding Angles", and the fifth grade continues to study decimal division this week. When sixth-grade students learn fraction division this week, they focused on understanding and reasoning about practical problems and using equations to solve practical problems.

Grade 4 explored the myths and legends surrounding the ancient Greek Olympic games. Understanding that only the Greeks' bravest and strongest soldiers competed in these ancient games, as a tribute to Zeus, the God of gods, in Greek myths.
Grade 2 discussed the changes in Olympic sports equipment and materials over the last 10 decades and the benefits those changes have brought to athletes.
Grade 3 explored the penetration of different areas in a few sports, such as javelin, long jump, and disc throw. Through this experience, students were able to understand the difference between culture and civilisation.
四年级对围绕古希腊奥运会的神话和传说进行了探究。了解到在这些古老的赛事中,只有希腊最勇敢和最强壮的士兵才有资格参赛,这是对希腊神话中众神之神宙斯的致敬。
