Empowering Teachers and Students through ‘The Voice of the Child’

At ASJ, we believe that the voice of the child is not just important—it is essential. It is this belief that inspired our recent training and visitation session, where ASJ was visited by 28 educators from other schools. This training focused on empowering children by amplifying their voices in the classroom and beyond. 

在ASJ，我们坚信孩子的声音不仅重要，而且至关重要。基于这一信念，我们最近举办了培训和参观活动，邀请了来自其他学校的28名教育工作者访问ASJ。此次培训的核心目标是通过课堂内外的多种方式放大孩子的声音，赋予他们更多的自主权。

The Training: A Deep Dive into Listening to ‘The Voice of the Child’ ｜培训：深入探究倾听“儿童之声”

The training kicked off with a session that helped to reframe our approach to teaching and learning. As a Reggio inspired school, ASJ actively celebrates the "100 Languages of Children" concept emphasises that children have countless ways to express themselves—through art, music, movement, building, storytelling, and more. 

培训以一场旨在重新构建教学与学习模式的活动拉开帷幕。作为一所受瑞吉欧启发的学校，ASJ积极倡导“儿童的百种语言”这一理念，强调儿童可以通过艺术、音乐、舞蹈、搭建、讲故事等多种形式表达自己。

These "languages" reflect their creativity, curiosity, and unique perspectives. We believe in nurturing all these forms of expression rather than limiting children to verbal or written communication. We celebrate the idea that every child has infinite potential and one hundred ways to share their understanding and interact with the world.

这些表达方式反映了他们的创造力、好奇心和独特视角。我们坚信应培养所有这些表达形式，而不仅仅局限于口头或书面交流。我们坚信每个孩子都拥有无限潜力，并能通过多种方式分享他们的理解并与世界互动。

The training was built around the idea that children should not be passive recipients of education, but active participants in their own learning journey. Visitors learned how to listen attentively to students, understand their needs, and incorporate their feedback into their teaching practices.

此次培训围绕着一个核心理念展开，即儿童不应是教育的被动接受者，而应成为自身学习过程中的积极参与者。参观者们学习了如何专注倾听学生的心声，理解他们的需求，并将学生的反馈融入到教学实践中。

The Visitation: Seeing the Voice of the Child in Action | 探访: 在行动中聆听儿童的声音

Following the training, visiting teachers had the privilege of observing classrooms where the principles of child-centred education were being actively implemented. It was truly inspiring to see these strategies come to life. Teachers and students alike were fully engaged in meaningful conversations, with children contributing ideas and leading discussions with remarkable confidence.

培训结束后，来访教师参观了一些践行以儿童为中心教育理念的课堂。看到这些策略得以生动实施，令人振奋。教师和学生全身心投入到有意义的交流中，孩子们自信地提出想法并引领讨论。

As we reflect on the training and visitation, it’s clear that amplifying the voice of the child is a transformative approach that benefits everyone. By prioritising student agency, we are not only enhancing their learning experiences but also cultivating an environment where they feel valued and empowered.

回顾此次培训和访问，显然，放大儿童的声音是一种能够造福所有人的变革性方法。通过优先考虑学生的自主权，我们不仅提升了他们的学习体验，还营造了一个让他们感到被重视和赋权的环境。

The training was a reminder of how much students ' voices offer us insight into what excites them, what challenges them and how we can best support their growth. In the days and weeks ahead, we are committed to continuing this journey of listening, learning, and evolving alongside our students and look forward to training more teachers from other schools.
