小学部:坚持原则

Grade 1

In Grade 1, students demonstrated being principled by showing fairness and respect by taking turns, listening to each other, and ensuring everyone had an equal opportunity to participate in the activity. During their UoI classes, the children displayed responsibility and integrity as they focused on completing their small-scale ocean habitats, ensuring their work reflected their best effort and commitment.

一年级的学生们通过玩卡片游戏展现了他们的原则性,他们将名词、代词、物主代词和动作动词组织成正确的句子。在游戏中,他们轮流参与、互相倾听,并确保每个人都有平等的机会参与,体现了公平和尊重。在UoI探究课堂上,孩子们专注于完成他们的小型海洋栖息地模型,确保他们的作品反映出最大的努力和承诺,展现了责任感和诚信。

Grade 2

This week, Grade 2 students demonstrated what it means to be principled by working collaboratively and persevering through challenges. They explored scientific concepts through hands-on experiments, focusing on gravity and the northern lights. They showed resilience, not giving up until they achieved success. Through teamwork and determination, they embraced the spirit of inquiry and discovery!

本周,我们Grade 2的学生通过协作与迎难而上的精神,充分展现了何谓有原则"。他们以重力与北极光为研究课题,通过动手实验探索科学的奥秘,面对困难展现出坚韧品格。在团队协作中,孩子们以锲而不舍的探索,亲身实践着科学发现的精神。

Grade 3


The Grade 3 students have been enhancing their understanding of electricity. Prior to designing their own switches at the end of the week, they engaged in an inquiry-based investigation into conductors and insulators. The success of their investigations relied on conducting fair tests, minimising the variables that were altered, and handling the equipment safely.

在三年级的这一周,学生们对电的认识得到了加强。在本周末设计自己的开关之前,他们对导体和绝缘体进行了基于询问的调查。调查的成功依赖于公平的测试、最小化被改变的变量以及安全操作设备。

Grade 4


Grade 4 students have expressed their principled nature by working effectively as part of a team, respectfully exploring their teammates' ideas, and creating well-researched and decorated solar system-themed posters. Students showed their ability to listen attentively to others' ideas as they presented their work.

四年级的学生们通过有效地团队合作,尊重地探索队友的想法,并创作了经过精心研究和装饰的太阳系主题海报来表现出他们的原则性。学生们在展示自己的作品时表现出了他们能够认真倾听他人想法的能力。

Grade 5

This week, Grade 5 students were actively encouraged to take responsibility for their actions, fostering a sense of accountability. Through various engaging activities and discussions, they explored the concept of fairness, applying it to their interactions with peers and in group projects.

本周,我们积极鼓励五年级学生为自己的行为负责,培养他们的责任感。通过各种引人入胜的活动和讨论,他们探索了公平的概念,并将其运用到与同学的互动和小组项目中。

Grade 6A

The Grade 6A students have been engaged in the development of informative boards focussed on the properties of light. In their groups, they demonstrated principled behaviour by recognising sources, collaborating fairly, appreciating diverse perspectives, and actively seeking feedback.

六年级的学生们一直在参与关于光的性质的宣传板开发。在小组合作中,他们展现了原则性行为,识别了光源,公平地合作,欣赏多元视角,并积极寻求反馈。

Grade 6B

In Grade 6B, students showed respect to one another during collaborative activities. They took responsibility for planning their upcoming assembly performance, working together effectively and ensuring that everyone's contributions were valued and acknowledged throughout the process.

在六年级B班里,学生在合作活动中表现出有原则的行为,相互尊重。他们负责规划即将到来的集会表演,有效地合作,并确保每个人的贡献在整个过程中得到重视和认可。

Music


This week, students demonstrated commitment to completing their music pieces. They practiced diligently, collaborated respectfully, and prepared confidently for their presentations. Their dedication and responsibility ensured they were ready to share their soundscapes. 

本周,学生们通过坚持不懈地练习音乐作品,展现了**正直(Principled**的品质。他们努力练习,尊重合作,并自信地准备展示自己的作品。他们的奉献和责任感确保了他们能够顺利分享自己的音景创作。这体现了诚信和毅力,这些都是音乐和生活中至关重要的优良品质。



ICT

In ICT class this week, students from Grade 1 through 6 explored tools like Scratch Jr, Scratch, and Microbit with honesty and respect for each other’s work. They demonstrated responsibility by using these platforms to create and share their projects, while always thinking carefully about their actions in coding and design. By working together and being respectful, they fostered a collaborative and positive learning environment in every activity.

在本周的ICT课堂上,一年级到六年级的学生们本着诚实和尊重彼此工作成果的原则,探索了Scratch JrScratchMicrobit等工具。他们通过使用这些平台来创建和分享他们的项目,同时仔细思考他们在编码和设计方面的行为,展现出了责任感。通过合作和尊重,他们在每一项活动中培养了一个合作和积极的学习环境。

Mandarin FL


Grade 2 students studied "A Cake Made by Thousands of People ", discovering how everyday items rely on collective effort. Through role-play and discussions, students reflected on why adhering to one’s role (e.g., farmers, workers) matters ethically, even without supervision. They concluded that principled actions—like honoring commitments and respecting others’ labor—build trust and a harmonious society. 

Grade 6 students learned about Robinson Crusoe’s struggles on the deserted island through studying the excerpt from the text. They discovered that despite facing numerous difficulties, Crusoe never gave up hope of survival. With his tenacity and intelligence, he built shelters, grew crops, and domesticated animals. We should learn from his respect for life and his perseverance in the face of adversity. Even on a deserted island, Crusoe still adhered to basic moral principles. For example, he rescued Friday and treated him as a friend rather than a slave, demonstrating his respect for humanity and his pursuit of freedom.

二年级学生学习了课文《千人糕》,通过文章理解了每种物品背后都有成千上万人的劳动与付出。在教学中,引导学生认识到合作与共同努力的重要性,培养他们成为有原则的人,懂得尊重他人的劳动成果,珍惜集体努力的价值。通过讨论与活动,学生们初步树立了合作意识与社会责任感。

六年级的学生们通过学习课文《鲁滨逊漂流记》(节选),了解到鲁滨逊在荒岛上面临诸多困难,但他始终没有放弃生存的希望。他凭借自己顽强的毅力和智慧,搭建住所、种植粮食、驯养动物,我们应该学习他对生命的尊重和对生存的坚持。尽管身处荒岛,鲁滨逊仍然遵循基本的道德准则。例如,他救下了星期五,并将其视为朋友而非奴隶,体现了对人性的尊重和对自由的追求。



Mandarin AL


Grade 5 and Grade 6 students participated in a group debate on "The Pros and Cons of the Internet". They focused on facts and logic, avoiding emotional arguments, and respectfully addressed opposing viewpoints by using reasoned arguments. During their study of transportation,  Grade 3 and Grade 4 students explored the environmental impact of various vehicles. Opting for eco-friendly choices, such as public transit or bicycles, demonstrates a sense of responsibility and principled decision-making.       

五年级和六年级的学生围绕互联网的利与弊进行了小组辩论。他们以事实和逻辑为基础,避免情绪化的争论,并通过理性的论据尊重地回应对方的观点。在学习交通工具时,三年级和四年级的学生探讨了不同交通工具对环境的影响。选择环保的出行方式,如公共交通或自行车,体现了他们的责任感和有原则的决策能力。       



Chinese Maths


In Grade 1 Math, students focused on subtraction within 20 with regrouping. Students learned to follow steps precisely to solve problems, understanding the importance of rules and order. This practice mirrors sticking to rules ensures accuracy and fairness. They also worked in pairs, showing respect and cooperation, reinforcing the idea that teamwork and discipline lead to success. 

The Grade 4 students learned about the process of the four arithmetic operations, mastering the principle of the order of operations of multiplication and division first, before addition and subtraction. With each step of the calculation process, students ensured the accuracy of the calculation results; and when solving practical problems, the method and order of the four arithmetic operations will be reasonably selected based on the situation and quantitative relationship of the problem to ensure that the problem-solving ideas and processes are logical.

一年级学习了20以内的退位减法。这个概念不仅仅是数字的运算,它还教会了学生关于规则和原则的重要性。在解决退位减法问题时,学生们意识到遵循特定的步骤和规则,会大大提高计算速度。学生们还讨论了在数学中遵循规则的必要性,以及在日常生活中,遵循规则和原则对于建立一个有序和公平的社会同样重要。通过这个过程,学生不仅学习了数学技能,还理解了原则和规则在生活中的作用。      

四年级学习四则运算,学生在四则运算的过程中掌握先乘除后加减的运算顺序原则。在每一步的运算过程中,都要保证计算结果的准确性;在解决实际问题时,会根据问题的情境和数量关系,合理选择四则运算的方法和顺序,确保解题思路和过程符合逻辑。

Upper Primary progressed onto overhead clear rallies and mini games in there badminton lesson. During the lesson students would work with range of peers with different level of experience. Students had to work together, being principled, by showing respect for each others skill level and playing games with integrity and honesty. 

小学部在羽毛球课上进行了高架球和小游戏。在课堂上,学生们将与不同经验水平的同龄人一起合作。学生们必须坚持原则,尊重彼此的技能水平,正直诚实地玩游戏。

Boarding


The PY boarding students demonstrated their principled nature by diligently completing even their most challenging math homework. They creatively utilised materials from the art room to aid their understanding and problem-solving. Additionally, they took responsibility for their environment by ensuring that the space they used was left clean and free of rubbish.

小学寄宿生们通过勤奋完成了具挑战性的数学家庭作业,展示了他们原则性的本质。他们创造性地利用艺术室的材料来帮助他们理解并解决问题。此外,他们对自己的作业环境负责,确保他们使用之后的空间保持清洁,没有垃圾。
