小学部:懂得关爱
Grade 1
In Grade 1, students demonstrated caring in action by showing attention to detail and supporting one another’s learning. In Literacy, students made connections between subject and verb and understood the importance of verb agreement, recognising when the subject is singular or plural. In Maths, students learned the steps to solve word addition and subtraction problems, carefully applying their strategies. During Unit of Inquiry (UoI), students showed great dedication and care as they completed their Desert habitats and informative boards, demonstrating their commitment to the task and to their learning.

Grade 2
This week, the focus was on caring, and the students embraced it beautifully! They worked together in groups, learning how to support and help each other while sharing ideas and showing kindness. Through collaborative activities, they practised teamwork, active listening, and respect for one another’s contributions.

Grade 3
In Grade 3, the students have been constructing their balanced arguments on the topic of electricity and its importance for human survival. While formulating their arguments, the students have been thoughtful and impartial, weighing the points on both sides of the debate along with their reasoning.

Grade 4
Grade 4 students have shown their caring side as they have worked in teams to prepare their presentation boards for the science fair. Students have taken great care of their work and each other to ensure they can produce their best collaborative work.

Grade 5
As students explored the pages of “Wonder", they found themselves immersed in a world that mirrors their own experiences. The characters came to life, sparking feelings of empathy and connection within them. With each chapter, they were inspired to embrace a spirit of compassion and reflect on the importance of kindness and understanding.

Grade 6A
The Grade 6 students collaboratively investigated the volume and surface area of cylinders and spheres, engaging in the analysis and resolution of word problems while supporting one another, which exemplified their caring attitude.

Grade 6B
In Grade 6B, students strengthened their relationships with one another, emphasising kindness and empathy whilst acknowledging their differences. Music
Working on a music production fosters collaboration, support, and dedication. Students helped each other refine ideas, gave constructive feedback, and improved their final work. This process taught responsibility and empathy, showing that music thrives through shared effort. By caring, they create meaningful, polished pieces that reflect teamwork and passion.

ICT
This week in ICT class, students from Grades 1 through 6 learned Scratch programming and explored Micro:bit with an open mind, embracing new coding challenges and creative problem-solving. By experimenting with different commands and troubleshooting their projects, they developed resilience and confidence in technology. Keeping an open mindset allowed them to discover innovative ways to bring their ideas to life and collaborate effectively with their peers.

Mandarin FL
Grade 1 students learned the text ‘The Little Rooster and the Little Duck.’ The students identified sentences from the text that showed the little rooster and the little duck helping each other. With excitement and creativity, the students divided into groups to bring these scenes to life through lively performances, recreating the adventures of the little rooster and the little duck. Through this immersive experience, they witnessed the joy of helping one another and internalised the profound meaning of ‘Caring in Action.’
Grade 2 students learned the poetry “Traditional Festivals” this week. They discovered the customs of different festivals and how these traditions reflect family bonds. Through sharing stories of festivals, they learned to care for family traditions and respect the elderly, fostering a sense of caring in their young hearts.

Grade 5 and Grade 6 students studied "Technology and Daily Life”, learning how social media keeps them connected with loved ones far away, sending greetings and providing emotional support. Grade 3 and Grade 4 learned about "Accidents" and how to help and care for others in emergencies.

CHINESE MATHS
This week, Grade 1 students learned about numbers within 100. They understood counting units, the order of numbers and how to compare their sizes. By mastering these basics, they can better care for and help others with counting and sorting tasks in daily life.
When learning how to calculate long division, the Grade 3 students expressed their care for others through communication and cooperation, helping to assist their peers when they had difficulty understanding the rules.
Students took intiative to break down the complex calculation steps before patiently demonstrating them in a manner that was easily understood by their classmates.
In daily life, students can use the concepts of long division to help their parents solve calculation problems and assist in planning expenses.

P.E.
In Lower Primary, students expressed their thoughts and ideas about sportsmanship, emphasising that competition is not solely about winning or losing. They highlighted the importance of caring for others by encouraging one another and showing concern when someone gets injured.
In Upper Primary PSPE lessons, students discussed empathy, compassion and respect for our opponents. The ‘winning at all costs’ attitude can often result in a loss for both the opponents and themself, as one of the key aspects of the sport is to bring people together and create new friendships.

Boarding
During this week’s PY boarding week, the students showed great care for their peers by actively checking in on those who seemed hesitant during activity time. They encouraged everyone to participate in various games, ensuring that no one felt left out or isolated. During playtime, they made a conscious effort to include everyone in conversations and activities, fostering a supportive environment. Their thoughtful actions minimised potential conflicts and created a positive atmosphere where everyone felt happy and valued.
