Students used the hundred chart to spot number patterns and support their problem-solving in maths, while in literacy they reviewed and reinforced syllables and initial consonants. In the Unit of Inquiry, they explored specified concepts and began to recognise how these connect to many aspects of their daily lifestyle.
学生们利用百数表发现了数字的规律,并且百数表也支持了他们解决数学问题,同时在英语课上复习并强化了音节和单词首辅音。 在探究单元中,他们学习了IB中特定的概念,并开始认识到这些概念与日常生活的许多方面息息相关。

This week, our focus shifted to strengthening core skills in literacy and numeracy. The students enthusiastically explored the differences between long and short vowel sounds through various engaging activities. In mathematics, we began comparing numbers, developing our understanding of greater than, less than, and equal to concepts.

In addition to reading numbers to ascertain the calorie content of snacks, the students in Grade 3 recognised that numbers also serve important functions in counting, measuring, and telling time, among other uses. Using various tools and resources available in the classroom, the students explored the different methods of constructing numbers before concentrating on base ten cubes and counters, along with a place value chart.

Students began the year by learning about place value, ranging from thousandths to millions. Students have now moved on to learning how to multiply 4-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers.

Students learned to create pie charts by collecting data, calculating percentages, and presenting them as chart sectors. They also practised clear labelling and organisation, making the information easy to read and compare while understanding how pie charts visually communicate proportions.

Students practised working with fractions and solved more complex expressions involving both fractions and mixed operations. They also engaged with word problems centred on genetics, which helped strengthen their problem-solving abilities and their capacity to apply mathematical thinking to real-world scientific scenarios.

What another fantastic week! Our students in Early Years have been exploring methods of self-expression, creatively translating their insights into art using a variety of mixed media. Meanwhile, our students in Primary have been utilising every minute of class time to refine their artworks. It is truly exciting to see their unique personal styles gradually shine through their artwork.

This week in music class, students engaged in projects exploring global music traditions. They discovered diverse instruments, rhythms, and melodies from different cultures, enhancing their appreciation of world music. Through collaboration and research, students broadened their understanding, developed creativity, and gained valuable insights into the rich variety of musical expression worldwide.

Our K3 students took their first steps in ICT by exploring how to use a computer mouse, while Grade 1 discovered how technology works in school and Grade 2 learned about input, process, and output in digital devices. Moving up, Grade 3 explored what the internet is made of, Grade 4 investigated how computer systems work, and Grade 5 uncovered how data packets allow computers to send messages across the globe. Finally, our Grade 6 students applied their knowledge by creating digital posters on how to stay safe online.

Ms. Carol: Students studied three classical poems set in the golden autumn season. Through "望洞庭" and "山行," they appreciated the poets' fondness and admiration for the autumn scenery. Additionally, they sensed the poet's loneliness and homesickness evoked by the sound of the autumn wind in "夜书所见".
Ms. Nicky: Grade 5 students learned about expository writing and understood its basic characteristics. They recognised that the primary purpose of expository writing is to introduce subjects and explain concepts to readers, rather than to tell stories or express emotions. They then focused on studying several common expository techniques, such as providing examples, listing numerical data, making comparisons, and using analogies.
Ms. Carol: 学生们学习了三首以金秋时节为背景的古诗。从《望洞庭》和《山行》中,他们感受到了诗人对秋色的喜爱与赞美;同时,通过《夜书所见》中描绘的秋风之声,他们也体会到了诗人孤寂思乡的情感。

Book Club students read about the enchanted world of “The Numberleys” and imagined a world where no alphabet existed - only numbers. Students also used dice to determine the details of the stories they created. The roll-of-a-dice determined which character(s), setting and problem would appear in their original wiring pieces.

Ms. Carol: Students mastered addition and subtraction within 5 this week. They were introduced to the “+” and “-” symbols and learned to read and understand arithmetic expressions. They practised calculating subtraction using methods such as counting, drawing diagrams, number decomposition, and using addition to solve subtraction problems. They understood that addition is used to find the total when combining two parts, while subtraction is used to find the remainder when removing a portion from a whole.
Ms. Leaf: Based on mastering the operation laws of integer multiplication, students learn to extend laws such as the distributive law of multiplication and the associative law of multiplication to the operation laws of decimals and fractions. Through understanding the meaning of multiplication, they master simple operations in the practice of exercises.
Ms. Carol: 学生们掌握了5以内加减法,认识了“+”“-”符号,能认读和理解算式含义。学会通过数数、画图、数的组成及想加法算减法等方式计算减法。理解加法适用于合并两部分求总数,减法适用于从整体中去除一部分求剩余。

They come to understand that “no one succeeds easily”—progress in skill and fitness comes from consistent, dedicated practice each day. Whether it’s overcoming a fear of deep water in the pool or mastering the art of passing and assisting on the court, these experiences foster a positive outlook on life and help build strong mental resilience.

This week, the boarding students learned greetings in Spanish and practised writing. In terms of life skills, they learned how to perform rescue operations using a stick and rope, as well as what items can be used for survival in the wild, how to start a fire, and how to launch signalling devices. The students also participated in a group dance session, expressing themselves through lively music.
本周,寄宿生学习了西班牙语的问候语并练习了书写。在生活技能方面,他们学习了如何使用棍子和绳索进行救援操作,以及在野外哪些物品可以用于求生、如何生火以及如何发射求救信号。
