Reflections 反思







Grade 1

Students had an exciting week as they discovered a new unit of measurement, weight, and explored how grams are used for lighter objects while kilograms measure heavier ones, even weighing classroom items and themselves to compare the difference. As reflective learners, they realised how every measurement unit they’ve learned, from temperature to distance, volume, and now weight, plays an important role in helping us understand and measure the many different things in our world.

学生们度过了精彩的一周,他们学习了新的测量单位——重量,并探索了轻的物体用克来测量、较重的物体用千克来测量;他们甚至称量了教室里的物品和自己的体重来比较差异。 作为善于反思的学习者,他们认识到自己所学的每一种测量单位——从温度到距离、容量再到如今的重量——在帮助我们理解并测量世界中的不同事物方面都发挥着重要作用。

Students dedicated their time to preparing for their upcoming assembly. They thoughtfully reflected on their learning from this unit and ensured they were well-prepared by practising their lines and actions for Friday’s performance.

本周,学生们全心投入为即将到来的集会表演做准备。他们认真回顾了本单元的学习内容,并通过反复练习台词和动作,确保为周五的演出做好充分准备。

After exploring the column methods of addition and subtraction, as well as the short and expanded methods of multiplication (for larger values when multiplied by single-digit numbers), the students applied these techniques to real-life multi-step problems involving the purchase of tickets and the application of discounts. 

在探索了列式加法和减法,以及简短的和扩展的乘法方法(当乘以个位数时,更大的值)之后,学生们将这些技术应用于现实生活中的多步骤问题,包括购买门票和应用折扣。

Having wrapped up their presentations and critiqued each other, students now reflected on their own work and the quality of their presentations, and set SMART goals to work towards achieving for their second presentations, which will come soon.

After receiving feedback and reflecting on their learning, students considered the many ways they could improve their learning. They identified strategies such as asking more questions during class, organising their study schedules, and seeking help from teachers or classmates when needed.

本周,在收到反馈并反思学习情况后,学生们考虑了许多种可以提高学习的方法。他们确定了一些策略,比如在课堂上提出更多的问题、安排学习时间表,以及在需要时向老师或同学寻求帮助。

After last week’s three-way conferences, students have thoughtfully reflected on their academic progress and growth, taking the initiative to set meaningful and achievable goals for the rest of the semester.

在上周的三方会议之后,学生们认真反思了自己的学业进步与成长,并为本学期的剩余时间设定了有意义且可实现的目标。

This week in art, some of our students dove into mixed media, creating vibrant pieces using paper weaving and acrylic markers. A significant "aha!" moment emerged organically during the process: they discovered that to prevent their intricate weavings from unravelling, they needed to strategically glue sections as they worked. This moved the project beyond mere creation and into the realm of critical thinking and foresight. Students were no longer just artists; they became problem-solvers, learning firsthand that a strong process is the true foundation of a durable and successful artwork.

本周在艺术课程中,部分学生深入探索了混合媒介艺术,使用纸张编织和丙烯酸马克笔创作出充满活力的作品。这一过程中自然而然地产生了一个重要的"顿悟"时刻:他们发现为了防止自己复杂的编织图案散开,他们需要在工作过程中有策略地用胶水粘合各个部分。这个项目不再局限于简单的创作,而是进入了批判性思维和预见性的领域。学生们不再仅仅是艺术家;他们成为了问题解决者,亲身学习到,一个强大的创作过程是创作出持久且成功作品的基础。

This week, the music room was filled with students listening carefully to melodies and harmonies, reflecting on the meaning behind the lyrics and how the music makes them feel, and connecting the songs to their own winter memories and traditions.

本周,随着学生们开始为冬季庆典学习歌曲,音乐教室里充满了反思的氛围。他们仔细聆听旋律与和声,思考歌词背后的意义以及音乐带给他们的感受,将这些歌曲与各自的冬季回忆和传统联系起来。

Grades 1 to 6 continued exploring how to create meaningful digital media, using images, audio, animation, website and video to share their ideas. They also reflected on their creative choices, thinking about how their work communicates their thoughts and how they can improve it next time.

一至六年级继续探索如何创造有意义的数字媒体,使用图像、音频、动画、网站和视频来分享他们的想法。他们还会反思自己的创造性选择,思考自己的作品如何传达自己的想法,以及下次如何改进它。

After receiving personalised feedback, they thoughtfully revised their initial drafts, reflecting on ways to enhance their word choices and sensory details. This process of drafting, receiving input, and refining their work helped students understand that thoughtful reflection is key to continuous improvement and effective self-expression.

In group discussions, Primary Year students shared how their reading and comprehension skills have grown, noting the book reading levels they were at at the beginning of the school year compared to now. Many described recognising their progress by being able to understand and answer comprehension skills and having a deeper understanding of the stories they read.

在小组讨论中,小学部的学生们分享了他们的阅读和理解能力是如何提升的,他们将自己在学年伊始的阅读水平与现在进行了对比。许多学生表示,他们能够通过理解并回答理解性问题以及对所读故事有更深入的理解来认识到自己的进步。

Physical education goes beyond physical training; it also fosters willpower and a spirit of self-challenge. By engaging in thoughtful reflection, students identify areas for improvement in their training and understand that future practice should emphasize not just completing movements, but also maintaining focus and perseverance throughout. The reflective mindset developed in physical education can be applied to their academic pursuits and daily life, promoting continuous personal growth.

体育教育不仅限于体能训练,它还能培养意志力和自我挑战的精神。通过深入反思,学生能够发现训练中需要改进的地方,并理解未来的练习不仅要注重完成动作,更要注重全程保持专注和坚持。在体育教育中培养的反思能力可以运用到他们的学业和日常生活中,促进持续的个人成长。

This week,our boarding students engaged in a series of enriching activities designed to inspire reflection. They honed problem-solving through survival skills, developed strategic thinking with board games, and strengthened collaboration in team exercises.

本周,住宿生在丰富的活动中学习与反思。从锻炼解决问题能力的生存技能,到培养策略思维的棋盘游戏,再到强化团队协作的集体活动,每一环节都促使他们思考与成长。
