True nature enthusiasts always observe and listen 

with wide open eyes and loving hearts, 

filled with reverence and tranquillity.

真正的热爱自然者，

总是怀着虔诚与宁静，

睁大眼睛，带着爱心去观察、去倾听。

From 8th to 9th January, students from ASJ(Dongguan) joined their peers from Tai Po Baptist Public School for a two‑day, one‑night Outdoor Growth Camp at the YHA Pak Sha O Youth Hostel in Sai Kung. More than just a break from the classroom, this was a meaningful journey into independence, teamwork, and a deeper awareness of life.

1月8日至9日，东莞暨大港澳子弟学校的七年级同学受姊妹学校大埔浸信会公立学校之邀齐聚西贡YHA白沙澳青年旅舍，开展了一场为期两天一夜的野外成长营。这不仅是一次远离课堂的户外体验，更是一次关于独立、合作与生命感知的深刻学习。  

Living and Learning in Nature

在自然中，学会生活

From packing their own bags and tidying rooms to building fires, cooking meals, and hiking through the wilderness, students developed practical life skills and a stronger sense of teamwork through hands‑on experience. In the camp kitchen, they worked together to prepare dinner; while exploring nature, they embraced the motto “take only photographs, leave only footprints,” showing respect and care for the environment through their actions.

从行李整理到房务清洁，从生火煮食到徒步探索，同学们在实践中学习自理，在合作中培养默契。原野厨房里，大家分工协作，亲手准备晚餐；自然探访中，同学们谨记“只留脚印，只带走回忆”，以行动践行对环境的尊重与珍爱。

Courage Sparked by Challenge

在挑战中，点燃勇气

The camp featured a series of engaging outdoor skill sessions. Guided by instructors, students tried their hand at fire‑making using traditional friction methods, connecting with ancient wisdom and delighting in creating their first sparks. In the evening, gathered around the campfire, they toasted marshmallows, shared stories, and gazed into the flames with rapt attention. During night walks, they looked up to identify constellations and listened to the sounds of the night, nurturing both observation skills and quiet courage.

本次成长营特别加入了丰富的野外技能体验环节。同学们在导师的指导下，亲手尝试钻木取火，学习远古智慧，感受火花诞生的喜悦；夜晚围坐篝火旁，烤棉花糖、分享故事，火光映照着一双双专注的眼睛；更在夜行探险中仰望星空，辨认星座，聆听自然夜话，在静谧中培养观察力与勇气。

Seeing Each Other in the Team

在团队中，看见彼此

Through team‑building, task collaboration, and fireside reflections, students grew closer as they communicated and worked together. Their camp journals recorded not only the skills learned and challenges faced, but also moments of self‑affirmation and appreciation for one another: “I appreciate my teammate for offering help when I was most tired,” and “I am proud of myself for bravely lighting a fire for the first time.”

通过小组建立、任务分工、营火分享，同学们在沟通中凝聚，在协作中成长。日志里留下的，不仅是学到的技能、遇到的困难，更是对自我的肯定、对同伴的欣赏——“我欣赏组员，因为他在我最累时主动帮忙”“我欣赏自己，今天勇敢尝试了第一次生火”。

Hearing Growth in the Quiet

在安静中，听见成长

With mobile devices put away, students tuned into their surroundings. From packing up at dawn and evening group reflections to mindful observation during hikes and applauding each other’s achievements—each moment invited them to listen to nature and to their own inner voices.

收起手机，静心感受。晨起收拾行装、夜间小组回顾、徒步时的观察、颁奖时的掌声……每一刻都在引导同学们聆听自然，也聆听自己内心的声音。

As the camp song says, “With confidence, may we overcome every obstacle.” This residential experience did more than build life skills—it planted seeds of service, care, and the courage to try. The story written together by the two schools shows that when we approach nature with an open heart, nature rewards us with the vastness and bravery to grow.

正如营歌所唱：“愿凭着自信跨过障碍赛”，这次宿营不仅锻炼了同学们的生活能力，更在他们心中种下了服务、关爱与勇敢尝试的种子。两校学子共同书写的故事证明：当我们以清心走近自然，自然也会以广阔回赠我们成长的勇气。
